St. Rose Dominican Hospitals–Rose de Lima Campus has completed an expansion and renovation of its Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) doubling the number of beds from 14 to 28.

The expansion’s new, spacious rehabilitation gym contains the latest and newest exercise equipment; two private neuro treatment rooms will allow for privacy when needed; a Likorall Lift System will be used in gait training and ambulation for patients with paresis (motor weakness or partial paralysis) and/or compromised weight bearing abilities; and a separate ADL (Activities of Daily Living) room for assessment and re-integration of functional independence will act like a fully functional apartment with a stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator as well as all ADA required standards. There are even two separate dining rooms for patients and families.

This expansion and new, comprehensive trans-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation has been developed to maximize the patient’s potential to return to independent living.

“The demand for inpatient rehabilitation services continues to grow as the population ages and acute-care hospitals seek post-acute discharge options,” said Val Baciarelli, president/CEO of the Rose de Lima Campus. “The expansion of the rehabilitation facility will allow the Rose de Lima Campus to assist in strengthening the overall continuum of care for the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals system.”

Under oversight by a medical director with a specialty in Physiatry (rehabilitation physician), the IRF and its dedicated staff, including Physiatrists attending patient caseloads, rehabilitation certified nurses, stroke certified rehabilitation personnel (PT/OT/ST) and social services staff, will focus on creating patient-centered care experiences that will be more easily facilitated since the unit was expanded to encompass an entire floor of the hospital. The Rose de Lima IRF will also have telemetry capabilities for cardiac rehabilitation admissions (the only IRF/ARU in the Las Vegas valley offering this clinical modality).
