Siena Campus Expands with Hospital Tower and Parking Garage

Our Siena Campus is expanding! A new five-story hospital tower and a four-story parking garage are being added to the Siena Campus to meet the growing needs of the Henderson community.

Construction of the five-story hospital tower is scheduled to begin April 2013, with scheduled completion in June 2015. Construction on the parking garage will begin in August 2012, with expected completion scheduled in April 2013.

Existing areas of the hospital, including the NICU and Emergency Department, will be expanded and remodeled to enhance patient privacy and comfort while the parking garage will add almost 500 much-needed parking spaces for the campus.

According to Rod A. Davis, president and CEO of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals and senior vice president of operations, Dignity Health Nevada, the shortage of hospital beds in the Henderson area has become more critical over the past few years as the community has continued to grow. As the hub of the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals system, the Siena campus has faced tremendous demand for both inpatient and outpatient services since it opened in 2000.

“We have been discussing expansion plans at our Siena Campus in Henderson for several years and are thrilled that the process has now begun in earnest,” said Davis. “Our new patient tower will alleviate the shortage of hospital beds in our area, which is a win-win for residents seeking the high-quality, compassionate health care St. Rose is known to provide. The Siena Campus – along with our Rose de Lima and San Martín Campuses – offers the latest medical technology set in a patient-focused environment designed to heal the whole person – physically, emotionally and spiritually.”

The new, nearly 220,000-square-foot tower will cost approximately $156 million and offer some of the most advanced medical amenities available today. Upon initial completion, the tower will add almost 100 private rooms to the Siena Campus bringing the hospital’s total capacity to 326 adult and pediatric beds.

New patient offerings:

  • 72 adult medical/surgical unit beds
  • 24 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds
    • 36 medical/surgical and ICU beds will be “shelled” on the fifth floor for future expansions
  • 11 new NICU beds (bringing the total number to 26 NICU beds)
  • 32 emergency room and observation bays with a dedicated CT (bringing the total number to 56 ER bays)
  • 6 new operating suites (bringing the total number to 16 operating suites)

Currently, the Siena Campus employs about 1,500 people. Once the tower is complete and fully operational, 700 new positions are expected to be generated.

Located at Eastern Avenue and St. Rose Parkway, the Siena Campus is approximately eight miles west of the hospital’s Rose de Lima Campus and offers a comprehensive range of hospital services in an attractive, patient-friendly setting in an environment conducive to healing. The new tower will enhance the campus’ existing health care facilities, including the four-story Del E. Webb Medical Plaza, a medical office building attached directly to the hospital featuring a number of physician specialties and an outpatient cancer center.
