Rose Regatta – A Success!

Wow – what an amazing time we had this weekend at the Rose Regatta. The event started at 8 a.m., but for the many volunteers that made it happen the day began at 5 a.m.! Thank you to those great volunteers who made the day possible.

Thousands of people descended on Lake Las Vegas throughout the day to support the Rose Regatta and row in their Dragon Boat heat. It was a great time had by all. In total, there were 60 boats that participated this year.

We were especially impressed and touched by the breast cancer survivor teams that came throughout the United States and Canada to row in the event and help spread the message of detection and cure.

All the money raised from the event will go to benefit St. Rose Dominican Hospitals’ breast health services, including medical care and psychosocial support for uninsured women and men facing breast cancer.

The festival included the Flowers on the Water Ceremony, honoring women currently living with breast cancer and those who lost their lives to the disease. The Painted Paddles Gallery had another successful year – as mini paddles painted by breast cancer survivors or those touched by the disease were sold off to raise funds.

Please check out our YouTube page (www.youtube.com/user/StRoseHospitals) for video from the event and our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/StRoseHospitals) to see photos, or post your own comments and thoughts about the event.

Thank you to everyone who made this year a success!

breast cancer is of course easy to diagnose early and very easy to treat if you catch it early”.
