St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – Siena Campus is commemorating 10 years of serving the southern Nevada community – during which time more than 25,000 babies were delivered at the campus and nearly 700,000 patients were assisted.

“Looking back, it is truly astounding to me that the Siena Campus has been providing healthcare services for our community for 10 years,” said Rod Davis, president, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. “When construction began, we were literally in the middle of nowhere. We’re looking forward to serving our community for the next 10 years and beyond.”

The 10-year celebration began Monday, July 19, with a special celebratory mass offered by the Most Reverend Joseph A. Pepe, Bishop of Las Vegas. The celebration and remembrances will continue in the upcoming issue of the WomensCare magazine and through St. Rose’s social media sites.

The first phase of the Siena Campus – named after Saint Catherine of Siena, a laywoman who devoted her life to prayer and caring for the sick and poor – opened in July 2000 with 141 patient rooms. Since then, a variety of major milestones have occurred at the hospital:

• 2001 – The first open heart surgery was performed.

• 2003 – The $20 million expansion, including the fourth floor build out, was completed in the fall. The expansion included 66 private patient rooms, a Pediatric Department/Pediatric ICU unit, an additional C-section surgery suite, an expanded pharmacy and other facility enhancements.

• 2005 – Siena received its Level III trauma designation.

• 2007 – Siena acquired the Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) system’s first da Vinci (robotic) Surgical System.

• 2008 – A Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) opened which allowed the hospital to provide the highest levels of care.

• 2010 – Construction began on the emergency and operating room expansions.

St. Rose CEO Rod Davis presents Bishop Pepe a recognition honoring the Bishop's 40 years in ministry.
